Following on from successful grant application, TTU have proudly been running our Parkinson’s UK Bat ‘n’ Chat for three weeks.

The programme, which so far has been a great success, takes place in the amazing facilities of the Lisburn Racquets Club, home of Table Tennis Ulster. With state-of-the-art facilities and equipment, it allows the program to be easily managed by our two fabulous coaches Jeff Irvine and Roy Coard.

Every Tuesday, 12-15 participants come along and enjoy an hour of social table tennis at a relaxed pace. Open to new players and those who have played in the past, our coaches tailor their coaching to each player, ensuring they have the most enjoyable experience.

Following our 1 hour of play, players are then welcome to enjoy a well-earned break, and chat over a cup of tea/coffee, along with a scone baked by Table Tennis Ireland President, Pat Hunter. Pat was the driving force in getting the program off the ground, alongside Table Tennis Ireland employee, Ryan Harrison.

The Lisburn Parkinson’s group have really enjoyed the three weeks so far, and we are excited to see new faces every week. Many players already have expressed a change in their balance, as well as coordination away from the event.
